Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This policy explains how 1Sun Energy handles personal information when you visit our website, contact us or request information about our home energy services.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

1Sun Energy is responsible for the personal information it collects through this website. For questions about your information or to exercise your privacy rights, email hello@1sun.energy or use our contact page.

2. Information we collect

  • Contact and enquiry information: information you provide, such as your name, email address and the content of your messages.
  • Property and quote information: your address, postcode, meter identifiers, information about your home, energy use and equipment, and the choices you make during a quote request.
  • Authorised energy information: where you separately authorise access, smart-meter consumption, generation and tariff information, which may include half-hourly readings.
  • Technical information: information associated with website requests, such as IP address, browser details and technical logs used to operate and protect the service.

Some quote information comes from property, address and energy-data providers in response to the details you supply. If you do not provide information needed for a quote or service, we may be unable to complete your request.

3. How and why we use information

  • Enquiries and quotes: to respond to you, verify contact details and prepare requested information. We rely on taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to general enquiries.
  • Delivering services: to administer a service you agree to, on the basis of performing our contract with you.
  • Authorised meter access and optional communications: where we ask for consent, to carry out the specific activity you agree to. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
  • Security and administration: to keep the website secure, investigate problems and maintain records, based on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable service.
  • Legal requirements: to meet applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Smart-meter information

The quote journey includes a separate smart-meter consent notice describing access through n3rgy. Please read that notice before authorising access. You can review and withdraw n3rgy permissions through the n3rgy consumer portal. Withdrawal may affect services that need this information. Contact us if you also want to ask about information already held by 1Sun.

5. Who receives information

Information may be shared with providers supporting website hosting, communications, address lookups and authorised energy-data access, as needed for the relevant activity. If you request a service involving an installer, energy supplier or other partner, we will explain the relevant sharing in that journey. A partner acting as an independent controller will have its own privacy notice.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

6. Retention and international transfers

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of an ongoing enquiry or service, legal record-keeping requirements and the resolution of disputes. Contact us for details of the retention period applicable to your information.

Where a provider processes personal information outside the UK, applicable data-protection requirements must be met, including appropriate safeguards where required. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar browser technologies can support website functionality and remember choices. Your browser allows you to block or delete cookies; doing so may affect how some features work. Where non-essential storage or tracking requires consent, we will ask for it before using that technology. Agreeing to smart-meter access is separate from agreeing to cookies or marketing.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may object to direct marketing at any time and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

To make a request, email hello@1sun.energy. We may need to verify your identity. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exemptions.

You can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact us first.

9. Other websites and policy changes

External websites have their own privacy policies. We may update this policy when our services or data practices change. The date above shows when it was last updated.
